2023 Tax Symposium

April 28th & 29th 2023

About the Event

26th Annual UNC Tax Symposium

The UNC Tax Symposium is the marquee event held by the UNC Tax Center, part of the Kenan-Flagler Business School and affiliated with the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise.

The UNC Tax Symposium brings together leading academics, practitioners, and policy makers who share an interest in evidence-based tax research. It is the premier inter-disciplinary tax conference hosted by a business school and draws leading researchers from the U.S. and internationally.

Most years, around 40-70 teams of researchers submit their research studies, from which we usually can only select five to six papers for presentation.

The UNC Tax Symposium will be held at the Rizzo Center in Chapel Hill North Carolina.

We usually limit the attendance to around 80 participants and have a significant waitlist.

In 2020 and 2021, we pivoted to a virtual Symposium. Several hundred people participated.

In March 2022, we successfully returned to an in-person format.

We will have another in-person format in 2023 and will comply with whatever social distancing protocols the University has in place at that time.
